[About
the Artist]
Barrie
Pearson was born in Sheffield, England, on September 26, 1936. He attended
Hunters Bar School in Sheffield and later studied at the prestigious
Brincliffe College of Art, now amalgamated into the new Sheffield Hallam
University.
In
1954 he emigrated to Canada with the intention of pursuing a career
in art, but without contacts or previous job experiences he was unable
to make the transition , settling instead for whatever jobs came his
way. Eventually Barrie prospered in Canada running his own successful
business, and a career in art seemed definitely out of the question.
Barrie
started to paint again as a hobby, and soon realized there was a great
demand for his work which he produces in absolutely stunning detail.
A painting can take as long as a year from start to finish.
He
now works full-time on his paintings shown in in galleries, museums
and schools. Many private collectors have standing orders for future
publications, buying in some cases as an investments. Truly an artist
of international reputation, Barrie frequently packs up his canvas and
drawing equipment in order to board and aircraft to reach his next destination.
